Questions
What does the free plan actually include?
The complete editor: timeline, scenes, captions, audio analysis, effects, brand kits, Director first cuts, subtitle import, lyric auto-sync, browser MP4 export, and short server renders (1080p, up to 30s). Free exports carry a small "made with motiontext.video" badge and accounts keep up to 3 workspace projects.
What do server renders give me over browser export?
Reproducible 1080p or 4K H.264/AAC files rendered on the server. No browser codec quirks, nothing tying up your laptop, and they work even where WebCodecs does not (Safari, mobile). Queue a render and keep editing. Free accounts get 5 short renders a day (1080p, up to 30s, watermarked); Pro lifts the length limit, adds 4K, drops the watermark, and raises the cap to 30 a day.
How do the AI features work?
Pro unlocks word-timed speech transcription (great for karaoke captions) and prompt-generated backgrounds. Free plans still get unique procedural artwork generated locally, and every AI result stays fully editable.
Are there daily limits?
Yes, and here they are exactly, so there are no surprises after you subscribe. Each allowance refills on a rolling 24-hour window, and anything an AI agent does on your account (via MCP) draws from the same pool:
- Lyric auto-syncs: 3 a day free, 20 a day on Pro
- AI transcriptions: 30 a day (Pro)
- AI image backgrounds: 20 a day (Pro)
- AI narrations: 60 a day (Pro)
- Premium-voice narrations: 20 a day (Pro)
- Server renders: 5 a day free (1080p, up to 30s), 30 a day on Pro
Browser exports, procedural backgrounds, and everything else in the editor are uncounted on every plan.
I only need one video. Do I have to subscribe?
No. Every free account can queue short server renders (1080p, up to 30s, with a small watermark) — enough for most single clips. If you want that one video clean, buy a single watermark-free render for $6: a one-time purchase that unlocks one full-length 1080p or 4K server render, no subscription. Upgrade to Pro only when you publish regularly.
Can I pay yearly?
Yes. Pro is $15/month, or $120 billed once a year (about $10/month, a 33% saving). Use the Monthly/Annual toggle above the plans. Both come with exactly the same features and limits.
Can I cancel Pro? What about refunds?
Yes, manage or cancel from your account page at any time. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, and your projects are never deleted when you downgrade. I don't prorate partial months; if something went wrong with a charge, write to [email protected] and I'll sort it out.
Do you have an API or MCP server?
Yes. Motion Text ships an MCP server so AI agents can create projects, add timed text and scenes, apply styles, and queue renders through the same project model the editor uses.
