Privacy policy

Motion Text (https://motiontext.video) is a browser studio for making lyric videos, photo stories, and kinetic captions. This policy describes what information we handle and why. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we don't run advertising trackers, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

Account information. Signing in uses Google. We receive your email address, your name, and a Google account identifier — nothing else. We never see your Google password and we cannot post or read anything on your Google account.

Your projects and media. Projects you save to your workspace — including images and audio you upload for server rendering — are stored on our servers so you can return to them. Browser-only exports never upload your media anywhere.

Payment information. Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we store only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status.

Usage analytics. We run first-party analytics (pages visited, referrer, rough device type, a random visitor identifier) to understand what's working. There are no third-party ad trackers, no advertising cookies, and no cross-site tracking.

Technical logs. Like nearly every web service, our servers briefly process IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention, and record errors to keep the service healthy.

AI features

Two Pro features send data to OpenAI: transcription sends your project's audio track to produce word timings, and background generation sends your text prompt to produce an image. We send only what the feature needs. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. If you'd rather not use these features, everything else in the editor works without them.

Cookies

One cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. That's it. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Who we share data with

Only the services that make Motion Text work: Google (sign-in), Stripe (payments), OpenAI (the AI features described above, only when you use them), and our hosting provider (Akamai/Linode), where the servers and your stored projects live. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Sharing links and drafts

If you create a share link for a project preview, anyone with that link can view (not edit) the project. Drafts created by AI agents through our MCP endpoint are unlisted, accessible only by their link, and expire after 30 days unless saved to an account.

Retention and deletion

Your projects and account data are kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account (Account → Delete account) permanently removes your account, workspace projects, uploaded assets, agent tokens, and cancels any active subscription. Analytics events are anonymized at deletion. Server error logs and rate-limit records expire automatically within about 30 days.

Your rights

You can access your data in the app, export projects at any time, and delete everything yourself from the account page. For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, or a question — email [email protected] and we'll help.

Children

Motion Text is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and note the change on this page. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
