Motion Text in ChatGPT
Add one connector URL and ChatGPT drafts editable videos. No plugin, no key.
ChatGPT connects to hosted MCP servers from its connector settings, so Motion Text is a URL you paste once. Ask for a lyric video, a narrated picture story, or captions over a clip, and ChatGPT calls the tools to build a paced draft, then hands you a link that opens the whole project in the Motion Text editor.
Use the studio endpoint. Motion Text also runs an anonymous endpoint for reviewers and quick tries, but ChatGPT only offers you the sign-in step when a server asks for it, and the anonymous one never does. Point ChatGPT there and it connects perfectly happily to a three-tool drafting surface with no way to reach your own projects, which looks like a broken connector and isn't one.
Connect ChatGPT
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL. ChatGPT prompts for sign-in as soon as it connects:

Your first prompt
Connected but staring at a blank prompt is where most people abandon an MCP server. Paste this into ChatGPT and you will have an edit link back in a few seconds.
Use Motion Text to build a 20-second square quote video from this line, dreamy and slow, one phrase at a time, then send me the link to edit it: “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
Swap in your own words and change the length, format, or mood. Line breaks are load-bearing: the Director paces scenes and captions from them, so one beat per line gives it a rhythm to work with where a paragraph makes it guess.

Good to know
- Use the /mcp/studio URL. The anonymous one connects without ever prompting you to sign in.
- Sign in with Google when the prompt appears; the connector then works on your own saved projects.
- Give it one story beat per line and name a mood. That is most of what the Director needs.
- On Pro, ask for the MP4 and it queues a 1080p or 4K server render and polls it to a link.
Questions
Why doesn't ChatGPT ask me to sign in?
You almost certainly added the anonymous endpoint. It answers without authentication, so ChatGPT never sees the challenge that starts the sign-in flow and never prompts. Add the /mcp/studio URL instead and the prompt appears as soon as it connects.
Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan?
You need a plan whose settings expose custom connectors, which has moved around between tiers and sometimes sits behind a developer-mode toggle. Motion Text itself works the same on every plan once the connector is added.
Can ChatGPT render the final video?
With a Pro Motion Text account, yes. It queues a real 1080p or 4K server render and returns a download link. Otherwise it drafts and you export from the editor.
Is my Motion Text account exposed to OpenAI?
ChatGPT gets a scoped access token for the tools you approve, not your password. Revoke it any time from the connector settings in ChatGPT or from your Motion Text account page.
